New Adventures Await for me
New Adventures Await for me

Things have been changing for me!  Here’s a quick update!

Family front –

My daughter had her tonsils out in October and the healing process has been very slow with her.  She is very stubborn and we haven’t found where she gets it from.  She is finally doing better now.  My husband and I have made the decision to put the girls in daycare.

Why?

So I can go back to work.  Where am I going to work?  I’m going to be a freelancer! I know it sounds like I have jumped off the cliff, but I promise you, I am not crazy!

I already have two clients under my belt and I am looking for another one or two to hit my monthly target income.  But I am going to go slow with me scaling my business.

I will be working under the business name SW Freelancing.  So if you have a moment, check out my page and give it a like!

Things are changing so please be on the lookout! I will have more information for you guys and I will keep you guys posted on how everything is going!

I think that is all I am going to talk about in this post, but please take a moment and subscribe to updates over on the right and like my page!  It would mean so much to me as I slowly start building this business adventure!

Ten Ways to be a Horrible Stay at Home Parent

Ten Ways to be a Horrible Stay at Home Parent

Being a stay at home parent is a challenge. No ands, ifs, or butts about it.  Doesn’t matter if you are a male or female, either way you look at it, you’ll be doing it wrong. So, let’s cut to the chase and go over the ten reasons why you are a horrible stay at home parent.

  1. You’re female.

Just because you gave birth to the tiny army that you are now watching over, doesn’t mean you should be watching those little monsters. Why stay home and make your husband go out into the world and work hard for you and those children that came out of you? How could you do that to him? Now he has to go out and work all by himself. He gets to have singular thoughts and is able to work on one task at a time without little voices reminding him they haven’t eaten in five minutes. How dare you make him be an adult?

  2. You’re male.

Just because you donated some sperm, doesn’t mean you should be able to take it easy! You are the man, the leader of your little home made army. Men are supposed to be out there making money and bringing home the bacon – not cooking it.  Women can’t make more money than you and then make you become the house bitch. Don’t you know that doing the dishes is a woman’s job?

  3. You stay home.

What are you doing? You are supposed to be out there making money dealing with other adults trying to make money as well. Why would you want to be at home? You have bills to pay. And you have to pay childcare bills. So, get to work to bring home like 60 extra bucks each paycheck!

  4. Your house isn’t spotless.

You are home all day, why is your house so dirty and cluttered?  You are home all day. The reason you are home all day is to take care of the house. To take care of the house, you need to keep it clean! That is your job. Your house looks like it could be on Hoarders! Get to work.

  5. Your house is spotless.

Why is your house so clean? You have children at home that need your attention. Why are you so focused on having a clean house? Children make messes. Just make sure your house doesn’t look like a house on Hoarders!

  6. You haven’t been on Facebook

. Didn’t you see that Tammy Sue is having a jewelry party this Friday? Did you see that Mark Zuckerberg is donating a crazy amount of money to something? Did you see what she posted?

  7. You have been on Facebook.

I can’t believe you have been on your phone!  You need to focus on your children and get that house clean. In my time, we didn’t have phones to distract us.  You don’t have time to play on Facebook.  Now get focused on your children and off your phone.
  8. You haven’t posted about your children.

Are they still alive? What are they wearing?  Do you still have children? Why don’t you share more about them?

  9. You have posted about your children.

Don’t you think you post enough pictures of your children?  That is all you post about!  Aren’t you worried that those pictures are going to get into the wrong hands?  We don’t need to know everything they do.  Don’t you have other things to do?

  10. You are worried about what others think about you and the choices you make for your family.

This is the biggest mistake I have seen with so many people.  They worry about what other people think and over stress themselves about what they think needs to be done for you and your children.  Are they in your shoes and do they handle the day to day business for your family?  What bills are they paying?  I am going to go out on a limb and say no, they aren’t paying any bills for you or handling any of you business.  Either way, as long as your children are healthy, feed and as happy as they can be, you are doing a great job.

Life with children is difficult.  No two children are the same – even within the same household.  There is no cookie cutter plan for every family.  Do your best, be better than you were yesterday and remember that no one is perfect! Stop listening to all the ‘you shoulds’ and enjoy the short time you have with your children the best way YOU see fit!

– Until next time

When Life Throws You Lemons Change the Recipe

When Life Throws You Lemons Change the Recipe
When Life Throws You Lemons Change the Recipe

You have two option (well maybe three); you either learn to make lemonade, or you cry.  (the third option, you make lemonade and add some vodka).  Either way you look at it, life changes and you need to learn how to deal.

Life comes at you fast, I mean really fast.  There is very little time to stop and smell the roses sometimes. Things that you really want to do get put on the back burner while things that aren’t as important to your soul are suddenly front in center.  It is difficult to find balance and often you feel like you have failed at life.  The one golden rule in life seems to be, it never stops moving. And now that I have to small children (who aren’t staying small for long) it is becoming more and more apparent that this rule is true.

It has been over a year ago that I promised to keep up with this blog and create amazing content that was going to blow your mind.  Then life got in the way.  And I mean in the way.  At the same time, I decided to go back to school (for accounting) while being a full-time parent.  This was not a good mix due to how much time school and children take of your day.  I got overwhelmed and I struggled to little to the little voice inside that begged to write.  I ignored her and pushed through with what the outside wanted me to do.

Life Changes:

Currently, I am still in school.  I have discovered that I really like accounting and taxes.  Both of them are like trying to put a puzzle together.  And due to the fact I have small children, I need to have a day job (ish).  That is until my writing starts to make us million (I can dream okay!)  The plan is to finish school in December 2018.  I still have a lot to do, but I am going to finish it. The main purpose of finishing school, I need to show my girls that with hard work, anything is possible and sometimes, giving up is not an option.

When it comes to my blog, my main goal is to have a new post once a week.  I am refocusing the topic of the blog about balancing life with writing. Or you can say, school and children; or blogging with sanity; children and writing; you know, the basics.

On top of the changes with college and the blog, I have also decided to take on the world of freelancing.  I’ve started with UpWorks.  If you need me, here is my profile.  If you need anything, hit me up there or email me at info@stephwenburg.com Presently, I am focusing on writing and basic bookkeeping.  Furthermore, during tax season, I will still be working as a tax associate and will be preparing taxes.

On the writing front, I have to start slow.  I am still active with NaNoWriMo (which I will be keeping you guys up to date on all the happening; so stay tuned for changes and updates.  Apart from NaNoWriMo, I am currently trying to get an ebook underway.  Since it’s in the very beginning stages, I won’t say much now, but once things have started to progress, I will be sharing tons of information about it!

Not so changed:

A few things haven’t changed.  One big non-change is that I am still a redhead.  Another non-change, I’m still married and I still have two children.  The children have changed due to the fact they are getting older.  Now I have a three-year-old and a one-year-old.  I’ve also gotten older but I don’t want to talk about it!

The main take away from this is, even if its slow, progress is still progress, life changes, so learn a new recipe and when there is a will, there is a way.   Oh, and I’m back, so enjoy!

Until next time…

Fall is here…

Fall is here…
Fall is here…

Fall is here. It is one of my favorite time of year. Things get back to a normal routine and normal patterns return. The leaves start to turn colors and it shows that there can be beauty in death. Anyway….

Fall has come back around and for some reason, this year it feels much more amazing. Why might you ask? Well, let’s write a list. (I just love lists!)

  • First off, it’s not ungodly hot and I do not feel like I am going to melt. Even in my air conditioned house, it still was hot as hell out there this summer!  Also, bugs go back to hell, where they belong!
  • Second, my baby is going to be two years old this Sunday! Where the hell did the time go?
  • Third, my other baby (I had another one in June) is three months old and nursing is going very well with her!
  • Fourth, postpartum depression hasn’t hit me yet with my second one like it did with my first one!
  • Fifth, I enrolled back into school. I’m going for my associate’s degree in business with a focus in accounting. So far in both my classes I have an average of 97%! So school is going well.
  • Sixth, I start a tax preparer class on Tuesday. I’m nervous and excited at the same time!  It’s going to be a challenge but I am up for it.
  • Seventh, NaNoWriMo starts in almost seven weeks from now! I am so excited for this! I’m the ML again this year!

So overall, things are looking up. I look forward to the future at the moment. I hope you guys follow along and enjoy the future with me!

So, tell me, do you guys enjoy the fall season? Please, tell me!  Sound off in the comments!

Welcome to the jungle!

Welcome to the jungle!
Welcome to the jungle!

This will be brief. If you followed me on my other site, you will realize that I have moved and things have changed.

Please don’t panic. Change is good. But change takes time.

As I am working out all the details, things are going to move, things are going to look different and somethings might disappear.

Please let me know what you are thinking! Tell me what you like (or dislike). Tell me what you would like to see here! During this time, I am open to some suggestions!

I hope to see you around!

Until next time…

Week of 8/14 Deals

Week of 8/14 Deals
Week of 8/14 Deals

Welcome! This is the deals for this week (until next Wednesday!) I am going to break down this list into three different sections. A Target section, a HyVee section, and a Walmart Price Matcher section. These are the three main stores I go to save money. I go to these three stores for different reasons. Target, for example, I can use a store coupon, a manufacturer coupon, and a cartwheel offer on top of sale prices per one item! (Have no clue what I am talking about? Check out here). I’ll explain the others as I go along!

Well, let’s start.

Target

As this progresses, I won’t be as wordy but for now, I aim to educate as much as possible!

Like I had mentioned before, I like to stack as much to get the best deal. On top of just stacking coupons and cartwheel, if you have a Red Card (either debit or credit) you save 5% off your total! I don’t factor in that 5% when I do the math for my bottom line. I will post what the item is, any coupons to go with it, any cartwheel offers and if there is any special instructions (like buying a certain amount of something.) So here we go!

Windex 23oz – on sale for $2.99
SAVE $1.50 on any TWO (2) Windex® products (excludes travel and trial sizes)

$2.24 per bottle when you buy two!

Family Size Oreo or Chips Ahoy – On Sale for $3.33
Save 75¢ when you buy two (SmartSource 8/14) [this means it is in the Sunday paper]
$2.95 per box when you buy two!

Yoplait Single serve yogurt – on sale 10/$5
SAVE $1.00 ON FIVE when you buy FIVE CUPS any flavor/variety Yoplait® Yogurt (Includes Greek, Greek 100, Greek 100 Whips! ®…
30¢ each cup when you buy five!

The next few ones do not have any coupons to go with them, but they are awesome prices that you can Price Match at Walmart or just go to Target to get them!

PopTarts 12ct – $2.50
PopTarts 8ct – $1.66
Kraft Mac & Cheese Original (7.25oz box) – 70¢ (GREAT PRICE STOCK UP!)
Chobani Greek Yogurt 5.3oz Cups – 10/$9 or 90¢ each!

And now comes to a uniquely Target deal.

This gets a little complicated so I will try my best to break it down for you.
If you text SAVE to 827438, you will receive a coupon for a $25 Target gift card when you spend $100 on select baby items (diapers, training pants, baby wipes, and infant formula). Now if you have an infant, you know it will no take long to get to $100 worth of stuff. Now there isn’t anyone way of doing this but keep in mind, both with Cartwheel offers and with coupons (both store and manufacturer coupons) there is a limit of four per transaction. So I will list the coupons and Cartwheel offers for you bellow. I’ll let you decide which way you want to add to get to $100 (and on the plus side, that $100 total before CartWheel and coupons!

GET $2.00 OFF any ONE (1) package of HUGGIES® Diapers (Not valid on 9 ct. or less)

$2.00 OFF ONE Pampers® Easy Ups Training Pants (excludes trial/travel size)

$2.00 OFF ONE Pampers® Cruisers Diapers (excludes trial/travel size)

$2.00 OFF ONE Pampers® Baby Dry Diapers (excludes trial/travel size)

$2.00 OFF ONE Pampers® Swaddlers Diapers (excludes trial/travel size)

$1.00 OFF TWO Pampers® Wipes 56 ct or higher (excludes trial/travel size)

$2.00 OFF ONE Luvs® Diapers (excludes trial/travel size)

And CartWheel can be found here.

HyVee

Okay, I always separate HyVee due to the fact that they have a wonderful Fuel saver program! On average, the prices might be a little (or a lot) more than Walmart.  If you can get things on sale and on fuel saver, you are double winning! A Little Sampling of Savings

A Little Sampling of Savings

In my last blog post here, I told you that I was going to add a ‘deal sheet’ every Wednesday.

Well, I thought that I would share a deal with you guys.  Again, I will state that this deal is valid in central Nebraska but I do not know where else! (But the coupon is good anywhere internet coupons are accepted.)

HyVee is having Yoplait single serve cups on sale for 39¢ each! Check it out for yourself here.  (You can price match it at Walmart)  Then you can print a coupon here for a dollar off five or if you have last week’s (8/7 SmartSource) flyer, you can cut it from there. After the price match and coupon, you will pay only 19¢ per cup!

Please note, this price it only valid until midnight 8/15.  So hurry and stock up!

Even through Walmart does not expressly limit home many coupons, their policy does state that the system will prompt for a supervisor after four like coupons. Also, you can only print two like coupons per computer.

Did any of this confuse you?  Do you need a little help?  Don’t know where to start?  Feel free to contact me through any of the means listed on my Contact Me page.  I aim to help you save money!

Want to keep up to date with all the savings I share, look to the right and subscribe to get emails about my latest posts!

Until next time…
