Municipal Liaison

So I while back I told you guys that I had applied to be a Municipal Liaison…..  Well, I heard back today about it…

My Municipal Liaison application has been accepted!!!

So this means I’m a ML this year!  I am so happy about it!  This is wonderful! I am so happy!  Okay, so it’s not a ‘paid position’ but it is important! I will be in charge of USA :: Nebraska :: Elsewhere with my co ML. I will be a ray of sunshine for fellow Nebraskan writers. I will be setting up write ins, pushing people to achieve their goals and some minor fundraising! So, you wanna join the fun? 🙂 Let me know! 🙂

I’m really excited and I can’t wait to make friends and share my love of writing! As I learn more about this process and what else I will be doing, I will keep you guys updated!  🙂

Until next time…

Short and Sweet

Short and Sweet

So life has been really busy and I haven’t been able to update this like I promised myself and you guys.  But I did get some writing done!  My daily average is about 300 words.  (I am a full time stay at home mom and I don’t often get a lot time for writing.)

Today, on the other hand, I got 1689 written!  It is so nice to see my word count grow!  For my non- NaNoWriMo word count goals, I often use this website for keeping track of my word count.  See?

If you didn’t notice, I also have my meter widget on my sidebar so you guys can watch it grow too!

I was planning on having this draft done by the end of the month, but I don’t see that happening.  So I pushed it back for the end of the September.  (My daughter’s first birthday is at the end of September, so I am hoping I can pull this off!)

I am also in the beginning of planning out my project for NaNoWriMo this year.  I have three (very different) plot ideas!  SO I need to pick one and then roll with it!

I’ll keep you guys posted!

Until next time..

So, I just thought I would post a wrap up for the month of July…  I mean, nothing exciting happened or anything….

Are you kidding?  I won Camp NaNoWriMo!

Camp-Winner-2015-Twitter-Profile  Here it is….  My winner banner!  I am so happy!

It was my first time ever winning and it feels so good!

I aimed for 30,000 words.  I nail 32,162! I officially won on the 22 of July.  But I continued to write until the 31st!

Please note, plot wise, I am no were near done (I hope to finish the first draft by the 31st of this month!).  But it feels so good to have 32,000 words done!

I am just so happy!

Before Camp started, back in June I applied to be a Municipal Liaisons for my region.  My home region is USA :: Nebraska :: Elsewhere for anyone who is curious!  I am hoping to hear back about it soon!

So, for the next month, I’m going to be trying to get a lot of stuff written and I am aiming for my deadline of the 31!  I’ll keep you guys posted!

Until next time…

Finally! Sucess!

Finally! Sucess!

Okay, since I haven’t directly posted anything today and this is a late night post, please bare with me. I will fill you a little bit before getting to the meat of the post.

Almost every year since high school,  I have tried NaNoWriMo  (National Novel Write Month). Every year but last year (since I had a one month old and my husband was in a different state for training all of November.) And almost every year, I came up short or failed all together.

This was the first year I tried Camp NaNoWriMo. I tried in April but I bounced between projects  (I couldn’t settle on one project to work on) and I failed horribly!

This month was different. I had one clear cut project I was going to work on. I adjusted my goal to something i thought I could handle. I had plotted out about 95% of my plot. I had an almost clear idea on my opening and ending. I wrote my project in chronological order. I had an amazing software that helped me organize my thoughts and ideas.  And guess what? I kicked ass! I won Camp NaNoWriMo on July 22nd! I was so happy I danced around my house and I told everyone i know.

And then my mojo disappeared. The next day I couldn’t get a word out of my brain.  But I didn’t worry,  I was still living high off my win. Then the next day, nothing came out; and then the next day and the day after that nothing would come out. I stared at my screen. No words came out. So i thought i would shift focus for a little bit and work on my blog (which has been going along pretty well) but still no progress on my writing project.

And then today happened.  This morning, NaNoWriMo had a virtual write in. I only got maybe ten words done during that time but I was thinking about my project.  I was thinking on the plot, the characters and where I wanted to go. Then I had to go handle life, but it was no big deal. Then this evening the WordNerds had their virtual write in and I got more words done. I got almost 500 words done in the last hour of the write in. It was sweet.

After that I went for a walk and thought more about my plot and direct I wanted it to go. (I also thought more about my blog, but that’s for another time.) After I came home, i got to writing and working on my plot.

I GOT 676 WORDS WRITTEN TODAY.  Its not a lot but its a start. I have five days of zeros and seeing some numbers is an amazing, freeing feeling. I’m starting my climb again.

I’m so very happy. But it’s late and u have a ten month old I have to chance around in the morning. So good night!

Until next time…

P.S. Since I am updating this through the app, I don’thave complete access to all the links to the sites I have mentioned but I have them listed on my Sharing is Caring! page. So go check it out! Thank you!

Camp NaNoWriMo

Camp NaNoWriMo

Okay, as I call this day to an end, I had a really great first day.  I got 1720 words done today! It’s a great feeling to get such a great start.  I just hope to keep it up!  🙂 Well, that is all for the moment!

Until next time…

Camp NaNoWriMo

Camp NaNoWriMo

So, I have decided that I am going to try my hand at doing Camp NaNoWriMo.  It is very similar to the NaNoWriMo that happens in November.  National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. (words from there website).  I feel like they say it best.

Anyway, Camp NaNoWriMo is very similar but two big differences.  One is that it takes place in April verses November.  The other on is that during camp, you can pick the word count goal.  It has to be more that ten thousand words to a million words.  I have never done camp before and I am super excited for trying this out!

So I will posting update through out the month on how things are going! I am also going to set up a a little widget about how far I am and things like that.

The goal of Camp NaNoWriMo is to get words on the page.  The average goal is about 1667 words a day if you are doing a 50,000 word count goal.  I think I am going to aim for this goal and get the words on the page.

I do have a project that I am going to work on during the month.  During this next week I am going to “finalize” my outline for the project.  I have a rough one that just has a series of plot points. I am going to work it out in greater detail and get the ball rolling on things.  So I am going to keep ya posted on the progress of the outline.

So, I thought before I go, I would share the links of my pages on the NaNoWriMo’s sites….  I thought you guys might want to check it out!

Here is the synopsis for my NaNoWriMo project ‘Memory’

So I know this is my second post in the second day and it’s just a few hours after I have just posted something else. But I feel like I need to share this with the masses. So please tell me what you think of this! PLEASE! I’m begging you! Well, enjoy!
Synopsis

Memory

Josephine Spencer wakes up with no memories. After she gather’s some of her basic information, she is thrown into this huge corporate world called White River Industries. Within hours of waking, she discovers that she isn’t alone in her mind. Two mysterious and polar opposite voices are in her head holding her memories hostage. Externally, she is being guided by two women who are trying too hard to make Jo feel welcomed. As more of her memories get released from the voices in her head, the more she releases that pearly white shell she is hidden in isn’t so perfect.

As she continues to learn more about White River Industries, the more she realizes that she can’t sit back and do nothing. Something is not right even through at surface level everything seems to be for the people. Once she finds out the secret to the success of White River, everything around her comes crashing down. She becomes that most wanted person on the planet. The only help she has is from the two voices in her head. With one last twist of the knife, Jo decides that it is her mission to bring the truth to the people.

With everything riding on her shoulders, she has to decide if the truth is worth destroying the people’s comfortable lies for the harsh reality? And she has to decide what cost is to her and to the world.

 Excerpt

Jo finally opened her eyes again. She was still lying on the hard, cold floor. Without and other thought, she pushed herself up and stumbled over to the exam table. She pulled herself up on the table and sat staring at the wall. Maybe it was the drugs that caused her to hear the British voices.

Jo, don’t believe them.

Her eyes widen as she tried to swing her head around to see who was talking to her. It sounded like the first voice she heard when she was drugged. She heard the second voice chuckle.

“What is going on?” She shouted as she jumped to her feet. She spun herself around. She didn’t see anyone in the room with her.

Stop that, do you really want them to drug you again? The second voice shouted back. We don’t want to start this over again.

“Again?” She mumbled as she stopped spinning. She walked over to the mirror. There was no one standing behind her but she felt someone there. Jo looked down to her feet and saw a pair of boots to her left and a pair of high end shoes to her right side. She quickly turned around to find nobody behind her.

Please stop bringing attention to yourself, the second voice ordered.

Give her a break, it’s going to take time to understand all of this, the first voice added.

“What is going on here?” Jo softly asked. She slowly dragged herself to the exam table. Once she was on the table, she dropped herself back and stared at the ceiling.

At least she’s not totally freaking out, the first voice said. Right in front of the top of her head were two bodies. One was in some sort army camo and the other one was in a high class suit. She couldn’t make out any faces. Jo went to lift her head to see them but they disappeared.

Yet. The second voice bitterly pointed out.

“Who are you two?” She whispered.

That will be disclosed later, the second voice responded, for right now, just believe us when we say, don’t trust them.

“Them?” Her words were barely audible.

The two that spoke to you earlier.

Matter of fact don’t trust anyone at this corporation. A bunch of soulless bastards. The second voice had a very bitter feel to every syllable that left his mouth

NaNoWriMo time…

NaNoWriMo time…

So today is the first day of NaNoWriMo!!!!!  I’m so excited! Sadly, I was so close of getting my other project done but I just couldn’t bring myself to finish. I think I need to rework my ending a little bit. So I think that the first week here I am going to try my hardest to get that project done but this is NaNoWriMo!!!!!! In December I’ll pick that project up again.
I’m so happy! My first year doing it and I’m already running behind…
On a side note, Halloween was pretty fun. I went to a friend’s house and hug out there. It was really fun but I am paying for it today. I seemed have forgotten the cover to my chocolate milk and I missed my mouth. So now I’m wearing it… brown milk and a blue shirt do noit mix. Gir! Oh well.
So I am going to start working on my NaNoWriMo project tonight, since I have to work in the morning. My goal is two thousand words for today. I think I can do it!
Well back to the grind. I will update all tonight!

It’s getting good…

It’s getting good…

So, things are looking up.  It’s such an exciting time!  So, I will just get to some of the major good points!

I hit 700 page views!  It’s exciting!  I logged last night and saw it was at 700, I love even numbers.  It is so exciting.  Seven page-views in about a month!  That is pretty good, I think!  So maybe you can share my blog with your friends and I can hit 800 by the end of the month?  Or sign up for email notifications? It’s off to the right, right under the blog archive.  Go ahead!  You know you want to!
Also, if you have looked over to your right I have passed my halfway point on my word count goal!  That is really exciting!  No, really, check it out!  And I’m almost half way down with my first draft!  I’m excited!
AND NANOWRIMO STARTS IN LIKE TWENTY-TWO DAYS!  Am I the only one around here all really excited about that?  That reminds me that I have to work on plotting that out a little bit.  Well, I am home alone tonight, so maybe that will be what I will do tonight!  So yeah, at least stuff with my writing projects are looking up!  Have a good night!
