Okay, since I haven’t directly posted anything today and this is a late night post, please bare with me. I will fill you a little bit before getting to the meat of the post.
Almost every year since high school, I have tried NaNoWriMo (National Novel Write Month). Every year but last year (since I had a one month old and my husband was in a different state for training all of November.) And almost every year, I came up short or failed all together.
This was the first year I tried Camp NaNoWriMo. I tried in April but I bounced between projects (I couldn’t settle on one project to work on) and I failed horribly!
This month was different. I had one clear cut project I was going to work on. I adjusted my goal to something i thought I could handle. I had plotted out about 95% of my plot. I had an almost clear idea on my opening and ending. I wrote my project in chronological order. I had an amazing software that helped me organize my thoughts and ideas. And guess what? I kicked ass! I won Camp NaNoWriMo on July 22nd! I was so happy I danced around my house and I told everyone i know.
And then my mojo disappeared. The next day I couldn’t get a word out of my brain. But I didn’t worry, I was still living high off my win. Then the next day, nothing came out; and then the next day and the day after that nothing would come out. I stared at my screen. No words came out. So i thought i would shift focus for a little bit and work on my blog (which has been going along pretty well) but still no progress on my writing project.
And then today happened. This morning, NaNoWriMo had a virtual write in. I only got maybe ten words done during that time but I was thinking about my project. I was thinking on the plot, the characters and where I wanted to go. Then I had to go handle life, but it was no big deal. Then this evening the WordNerds had their virtual write in and I got more words done. I got almost 500 words done in the last hour of the write in. It was sweet.
After that I went for a walk and thought more about my plot and direct I wanted it to go. (I also thought more about my blog, but that’s for another time.) After I came home, i got to writing and working on my plot.
I GOT 676 WORDS WRITTEN TODAY. Its not a lot but its a start. I have five days of zeros and seeing some numbers is an amazing, freeing feeling. I’m starting my climb again.
I’m so very happy. But it’s late and u have a ten month old I have to chance around in the morning. So good night!
Until next time…
P.S. Since I am updating this through the app, I don’thave complete access to all the links to the sites I have mentioned but I have them listed on my Sharing is Caring! page. So go check it out! Thank you!
