I’ll just leave this here for your enjoyment!

YES I JUST REACHED MY WORD COUNT!

But I will talk more about that tomorrow since it is late and I have to get up with a tiny terror a.k.a my daughter!

I’ll go into more detail tomorrow!  I’m just super excited!  🙂

Until next time…

My Ideal Audience Member

Today’s assignment for Blogging 101 is to describe who your ideal audience is.  I’m game. This will stretch me a little bit since I have never fully thought about who my ideal audience would be.  I just always dreamed of having an audience.  🙂

Well, let me start of with what I would love (and really want) in my audience:

  1. A writer – this may seem a little obvious, but this doesn’t quite mean the same as published (look bellow).  I call myself a writer since I write everyday and I view it as my career.  I would love if someone like me is in my audience right now!
  2. A friend – Now this is a little broad but I would love if I have a friend in my audience.  This is someone who can just giggle at myself and chit chat about chocolate.  I love int especially if this friend is from a different walk of life. Image all the things we could learn about each other!
  3. A parent – Since I am a stay at home mom 95% of the time, I have trouble connecting with other parents. We are all trying to balance out work and home. I would love if someone in the audience is struggling with this and would like to share tips! 🙂
  4. Someone in the same boat – I don’t mean literally in the same boat but one very similar.  Like I have said before, I am a stay at home mom to an almost one year old little girl (she will be one in 15 days!). My husband works long hours daily and works six days a week.  I am a writer, creative thinker and all around quirky person. If I could find someone else trying to keep track of similar monkeys, that would be great! 😀
  5. A redhead – Now, yes, I am a redhead and I have met a few other reds out in the world but most of them are on different paths.  I am a writer – I have met reds in the military (thank you!), cooks, musicians, business owners and others. Not many of them writers or stay at home parents (which is fine – can you image if we all were writers or stay at home parents!)  So having another redhead out there checking my stuff out would be awesome! 🙂
  6. CHOCOLATE LOVER – So, if you haven’t figured out, I love myself some chocolate.  There is nothing better.  I will eat almost anything with chocolate (but strawberries – I’m deathly allergic!) Mhm, chocolate. 🙂

Now, the second half of this assignment is to list a new to me element to my target audience member… But you know me, I can’t just have one.  😀

  1. I would love if there was someone in my audience was either, published, newly published or about to be published. It’s not for the reason that just popped into your head either.  Even through it would be nice for them to get me published, that is not what I am after (from them!).  It would be great for them to see my story and how I did all this.  There are no two paths to publication and I KNOW that their path will different than mine!  I would love to share information from them and from my own journey with others!
  2. Also, I would love if there was someone out there who has a successful blog & community out there.  And I don’t mean multi million dollar blogs or anything like that. I would love if someone from a successful blog was watching my blog grow and reach the masses.  That would be awesome! Image all that information that person already has and might be willing to share! 🙂

Well, I think that is all.  Do you fit the bill?  Do you know someone who does?  Why don’t you share this with them?  That would be great for everyone?  Now excuse me while I got stuff my face with some chocolate…

Until next time…

Introducing Me!

Introducing Me!
Introducing Me!

Hello all, for all the new followers I am Steph!  I am a fiery redhead with a strong love of words, chocolate, my daughter, my husband and more chocolate!  I hope you enjoy your stay!

I am a full time hopeful writer and a full time stay at home mom.  I have been writing since eighth grade and I have been blogging off on since I was in high school.  I have finally decided to give this my full attention (well not full attention, I need to shower and go to the bathroom once in a while!)

I am here because I feel the need to share the way I handle writing and being a full time mom.  I wish to share what I go through with the world!  A lot of SAHM’s (and SAHD’s) get a lot of grief for ‘staying home and doing nothing.’  I am a stay at home mom with a husband that works at lot during the week and it’s hard just to handle things around the house with a very active almost one year old tiny terror!  I’m not saying working parent’s have it any easier (far from it) but I feel like there is a void when it comes to writing and being a SAHP.  So I hope to create a bridge to the two.  Want to join me?

A few topics I hope you cover with this blog are: writing, motherhood, staying at home parenting; writing advice; NaNoWriMo stuff, DIY stuff and projects with the little ones, my current projects and I hope to add interviews with other people within the writing, publishing and parenthood communities!  (If being interviewed is something you are interested in doing – and you love to write, are writing, a published author, a parent or you fit in more than one, contact me through one of these channels)

Other all, I just love to help others, if it’s with writing, dealing with problems or just being an ear to vent to (or an outlet to express yourself) and I hope that this blog will help you!  I also love to connect with other writers!  So go ahead, let’s be friends! 😀

For the moment, I think that is all.  I hope you enjoy what you see!  I hope to here from you soon!

Until next time!

This is my Fight Song.. well blog… :)

This is my Fight Song.. well blog… :)
This is my Fight Song.. well blog… :)

So this song has gotten a lot of love within the recent weeks.  I love this song…  I know I have a lot of fight still in me.  I can’t just give up because life gets hard.

I know my goal of being a published author is going to be an uphill battle. I know this. I will have a lot of things against me but I will push though it… not just for me, but for my daughter. I want her to show her to reach for the stars.

There is a small part of me that wishes that i had pushed myself a little bit more before she was born but then she would never see the struggle. She would never see how hard I worked to get to where I am.

But back to this song… it just hits me and makes want to push harder than ever.

This week has been hard on me.  I don’t know why specifically, but I have a few reasons.  One, Camp NaNoWriMo is done and I feel lost and confused.  I don’t know but I’m struggling with getting anywriting done. Two, my husband has been working a lot and I haven’t seen him much this week.  This also means that I don’t get much alone time to get my writing done.  (I know he works full time and it the primary income)  This leaves me home alone with my daughter and she’s pretty active.  By the end of the day, I am drained and mostly dead.

So I am going to have to push through.  It’s going to be hard, but I still have a little fight in me.  I have to use it all to win.

Until next time.

It was my first time ever winning and it feels so good!

I aimed for 30,000 words.  I nail 32,162! I officially won on the 22 of July.  But I continued to write until the 31st!

Please note, plot wise, I am no were near done (I hope to finish the first draft by the 31st of this month!).  But it feels so good to have 32,000 words done!

I am just so happy!

Goal Statement

Goal Statement

So, for the people that have been following me for a while know that I often post a goal statement.  I tend to do one at the beginning of the year and then another one sometime midway through.  For me, posting my goals out to the world holds me accountable to them.  (I have this odd thing about when I tell someone about what I plan to do and I don’t do it, I feel REALLY guilty and that makes me get it done.) So this isn’t going to be glamours or anything exciting, but just me sharing what I hope to achieve by the end of the year. {Side note, I do have some goals on here that I want to finish before the year is over and I’ll have those dates listed.  All the others are for the end of the year!} In December I will have another post about what I want to achieve for 2016! I can’t believe how fast this year is going!

Okay, so let’s get down to it.

First up, I am going to list off my goals for my blog.  I’ll try to make it as entertaining as possible but I know there is some people that are not big fans of lists! (What is wrong with you?)

First off, I want to get at least two posts done a week; one on Wednesdays that focuses on writing (it could be a writing sample, some writing advice, or progress on my own writing (and during NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo I will posting my updates on Wednesdays too!) .The other day will be Fridays, and it will be on any topic I choose or an random one!  I have a few already planned out for this month!  This doesn’t mean that I won’t have other posts throughout the week, but I am definitely will be putting out two a week!  On top of that, my goal is to add three other features by the end of the year.  They will be my path to publication, a monthly book review and maybe interviews of other writers or bloggers.  Before I can start the last two, I need to increase my viewership but don’t doubt me, I will try my best!  Also, I aspire to buy my own URL for my blog. I’ll think about moving over to WordPress.org at the end of this year! My path to publication won’t start until I can achieve my writing goals.

Which leads me to my next set of goals.  These are my writing goals.  To become a published author, I need to write AND finish some piece of work.

  • To achieve that, I aim to get at least 1000 words done everyday.  It doesn’t mean it has to be on the same project, but I need to get my butt in the chair and write EVERYDAY!   I desire that it will keep me grounded.
  • From that, I want to finish my first draft of my Camp NaNoWriMo project by the end of August.  I am aiming for a fifty thousand word count when it’s done, but since it’s a science fiction, I have a feeling it’s going to run a little longer.
  • By October 1st, I aim to have my editing done and have a completed second draft.  I’ll take a break with that project.
  • During the month of November, I plan to participate in (AND WIN) NaNoWriMo.  I plan to kick some butt and take names!  🙂  In October, I will have a blog post on how and what I plan to do. So me on the lookout!
  • By the end of the year I hope to find some trusted beta readers and have them read my project.  I will work on editing from that in the beginning of next year.  (but that will be revisited in December!)  {If anyone is interested before than, message me or get a hold of me how you would like. 😀 }

There are only a few extra life goals I have are just a few minor things.  I would like to improve my skill level with HTML.  Using WordPress requires that I know HTML and I only know the basics.  Improving that would be great.  Also, I would like to improve my Spanish skill. I took six years of Spanish through my traditional years of schooling and  I read Spanish really well, but I speak it like a preschooler.  It’s sad.  I live in area that has a lot of Spanish speakers and I think it might be able really helpful with my day to day life.  One last thing I would like achieve is, I would like to be able to read and finish one book a month.  To be a good writer, I need to be a good reader.  I am am sure I can do at least one book a month. Then maybe I’ll do a post of the book review?  Mhm…

Anyway, those are my goals for the rest of the year.  Of course, life likes to throw me a curve ball once in a while and things may change.  Maybe I’ll revisit this once a month to see how I am doing!  You will just have to wait and see!

Until next time…

Finally! Sucess!

Finally! Sucess!

Okay, since I haven’t directly posted anything today and this is a late night post, please bare with me. I will fill you a little bit before getting to the meat of the post.

Almost every year since high school,  I have tried NaNoWriMo  (National Novel Write Month). Every year but last year (since I had a one month old and my husband was in a different state for training all of November.) And almost every year, I came up short or failed all together.

This was the first year I tried Camp NaNoWriMo. I tried in April but I bounced between projects  (I couldn’t settle on one project to work on) and I failed horribly!

This month was different. I had one clear cut project I was going to work on. I adjusted my goal to something i thought I could handle. I had plotted out about 95% of my plot. I had an almost clear idea on my opening and ending. I wrote my project in chronological order. I had an amazing software that helped me organize my thoughts and ideas.  And guess what? I kicked ass! I won Camp NaNoWriMo on July 22nd! I was so happy I danced around my house and I told everyone i know.

And then my mojo disappeared. The next day I couldn’t get a word out of my brain.  But I didn’t worry,  I was still living high off my win. Then the next day, nothing came out; and then the next day and the day after that nothing would come out. I stared at my screen. No words came out. So i thought i would shift focus for a little bit and work on my blog (which has been going along pretty well) but still no progress on my writing project.

And then today happened.  This morning, NaNoWriMo had a virtual write in. I only got maybe ten words done during that time but I was thinking about my project.  I was thinking on the plot, the characters and where I wanted to go. Then I had to go handle life, but it was no big deal. Then this evening the WordNerds had their virtual write in and I got more words done. I got almost 500 words done in the last hour of the write in. It was sweet.

After that I went for a walk and thought more about my plot and direct I wanted it to go. (I also thought more about my blog, but that’s for another time.) After I came home, i got to writing and working on my plot.

I GOT 676 WORDS WRITTEN TODAY.  Its not a lot but its a start. I have five days of zeros and seeing some numbers is an amazing, freeing feeling. I’m starting my climb again.

I’m so very happy. But it’s late and u have a ten month old I have to chance around in the morning. So good night!

Until next time…

P.S. Since I am updating this through the app, I don’thave complete access to all the links to the sites I have mentioned but I have them listed on my Sharing is Caring! page. So go check it out! Thank you!
