Non Writing activities

So, what do you do when you aren’t writing?

Wait, people do other things than write? Uh-oh, I’m in trouble!

As many of you know, I am a full time stay at home mom. Most of the day I am just chasing my almost one year old (three more days!) around the house. Within the last week she had given up in napping so that has cut down on my blogging/ writing time. But don’t fear, my husband had chosen next week as his vacation so I might get a great chunk of stuff done! J

Outside of chasing her and playing with her, I do a LOT of reading. I mean, a lot. I am often reading two of three books at a time and countless magazines and articles of all sorts! (Hey, I got to stay in the know with the rest of the world!)

I have tried to sew, crafting, painting and other hobbies but I have failed at almost all of them. That is why I have a series (it’s more of a monthly series) about any time I have tried to do a DIY project and failed! If you can’t laugh at yourself, you need to lighten up!

One of my friends have been bringing me to dance class on Thursday nights. But I have only been to two classes so I will let you guys how that goes!

What do you guys do when you aren’t dancing or writing? Let me know! J

Until next time…

Dear Serenity. A letter to my daughter

Dear Serenity. A letter to my daughter

Right now as I right this you are playing with your toys, screaming on the top of your lungs. As I type this, you area asleep in your crib, dreaming the afternoon away.  As I type this, I have a few tears rolling off my cheeks.

I know you won’t be able to read this until you are older, but that is fine.  I am writing this eight days before your first birthday.  You have grown up too fast!  Everyone warned me that it was going to happen that way!

I hope this letter finds you well and that life finds you well.  Maybe you have more siblings, maybe you don’t.  I don’t know exactly how your life will be when you are reading this but I hope it’s the best that it can possible be.  I hope that I have been a great source of help to you! (And of course your Daddy too!) 🙂

I really want to tell you that I love you dearly and I want the best for you.  Even through you might not always agree; like when I slapped your hands way from the hot stove or when you try to climb into the trash can.  I know you wonder what I am doing at the computer or what I am doing while I scribble in one of my many binders.  I am working hard, just for you! Well, not directly for you but I am trying to achieve my dreams so you don’t have to struggle as hard or as long as I have!

I hope you will grow up to understand that if you want something in life, you have to work hard for it.  Please don’t ever try to talk the easy way out.  It will hurt you more than anything.  If you need help, just ask; I promise we will never just leave you hanging.  We will be here for you.

I hope I have installed the love of books, words and writing.  I just hope it’s not for the same reasons I came to love them.  You will learn so much from reading other works of arts and I hope I taught you that reading is fun!

I hope you understand why I cried as I washed your bottles for the last time today.

I hope you understand why my cheeks were wet well we kiss attacked each other.

I hope you understand why sometimes I can’t finish playing ‘patty cake patty cake’ with you.

I hope you understand why sometimes I stand in the doorway of your room while you sleep and count your breaths.

I hope you that I am still there when you read this and I am able to give you a hug and tell you once more, “I love you.”

Love,
Mommy

Please don’t come to my house…

Please don’t come to my house…

My house isn’t horrible but it’s not spotless either.  It’s NO WHERE near a level of a hordes house (I grew up in one when I was a child).  My mother often blamed me for the mess because I didn’t clean up after myself or anyone in the house. It had nothing to do with her keeping everything of my brother’s (and no, he didn’t die.  He is still very much alive.) Or her lack of effort. I was the female unwanted child and it was my responsibility to keep the house clean. Do you know any seven year old how has to do that?

Anyway, I digress, but please do not come to my house.  I have a adorable, destructive, sweet little eleven month old who is just being a kid.  I don’t always feel like to picking everything she drops or throws.  She is currently working on her hand-eye coordination and practicing dropping objects to watch where they go.  She is learning what to do and how to do things.  It might make me a horrible mother, but I would like to enjoy her while she is small.

On top of that, I am human too. There are days that I just don’t feel like doing anything. And I mean anything. I have had days that putting a bra on was going to kill me. Pants are only for going out to see other humans. But overall, I am human. I am not perfect and neither is my daughter (even through to me, she is.)

Also, I’m a writer. I’m a creative soul and sometimes cleaning helps me. Sometimes I am wrapped up in my creative thinking I forget about the rest of the world. There is a picture I have hanging on my fridge. It reads:

If you marry a creative person know that some days you’ll come home to a spotless house.
And some days…
1. Dinner will be forgotten
2. The kids will be in pjs
3. And it will look like you were robbed
Find a way to appreciate both because the second will happen much more often than the first.

This is just a statement of fact. I wish more people understood.

Either, you are welcome to my house if you understand the following and don’t mind the mess. If you don’t then I am going to release my daughter onto your house and maybe you will understand. 😀

Until next time…

DIY fail-ish

DIY fail-ish

image

So i decided to try this… let me just say… do not get high hopes…

I started out with the sugar…

image

Then came adding the food coloring. … I’m a green freak do I picked green.

image

It clumped up and it took a lot of work to blend it all in.

image

In the middle of mixing… it felt like it took several years.

After years of string and blending you finally get green colored sugar.

image

After that, you have to put it in a pan… I put parchment paper in the bottom due to the fear of it staining my baking pans. (It stained my fingertips really bad.)   You have to make sure that you make sure its all flat in the pan.

I had my oven at 350° and it took way longer than 20 mins before it started to crystallize. I think it took me close to 25 minutes. …

And in the end I got this…

image

It just barely sparkles. … it was a bit of a fail… but i did get green sugar out of it all. I think that was the point,  wasn’t it?

I dunno. Did anyone out there do this and get a better result?   I hope so! Let me know down below  (and maybe share a picture or two!

Until next time…

I think I’m going to like it here.

I think I’m going to like it here.

And by here I mean WordPress.

Just to let you know, I promise,  once I get everything set up and grounded,  my posts will be more meaningful and more focused.  At the moment,  I’m just playing with the app (which is great) and getting familiar with WordPress.

But my point of this post is show you all the badges I have received in the past two days.

image

First on is 50 posts! Granted I imported most of my blogger posts but I never got noticed by Google for anything.

image

I GOT TEN LIKES! I know not a large number or anything but in the three years on Blogger I never got this many likes on anything!

Thank you WordPress for making me feel welcomed!

Until next time…

Look at all my fans! They just love me so much… it has nothing to do with the fries that I threw at them… 😂😂😂

Sorry, I crack myself up! They surrounded my van and just kept quaking at me until I took their picture… or have them more fries… either way they love me!
