Liebster award part one

Hello all!  I am finally getting around to this! It’s been such a crazy week!  🙂 I am slowly trying to get back in the rhythm of ‘normal’ life so here I am!

I was  nominated for two more Liebster award Blogger Recognition Award, so you guys will be seeing a lot of different posts about myself and you will be seeing lots of great blogs to check out!  So I am hoping you guys check all the fellow bloggers out! 🙂

For this set of questions, I was nominated by Cheyanne from her post here.  Show her some love, okay?

  1. What’s been your favorite Halloween costume?
Man, I just can’t pick one.  My favorite thing about Halloween is seeing all the people flex their creative muscle and create a wonderful costume. But if I really had to pick just one, I would pick any baby costumer ever.   Those kids are just so cute!
  2. What are some of your favorite movies?
I have several, but I would pick Nightmare Before Christmas hands down.  I have watched that movie enough I can still say every line and sing every song without a second thought!  🙂
  3. How do you like your coffee/tea?
I like my coffee in the trash.  Same with my tea…   I have never been much of a coffee or tea drinker.  Sorry to say.  But I am a huge fan of juice, can we agree on that one?  🙂
  4. Which celebrity are you just SICK of hearing about?  Feel free to describe in vague but descriptive terms so you don’t have to say the actual name and contribute to this person’s mentions.  😉
I’m kinda at the point that I am just tired about hearing about almost all and any kind of celebrity.  Well, all but James Franco….  That’s baby daddy number two…  Haha!  I already have spoken to my husband and I get the eye roll.  Come on, who watched Freaks and Geeks?
  5. What’s the most embarrassing fashion phase you went through?  Grunge?  Jelly platforms?  Big hair?
Umm, I really don’t follow fashion ….  So I would guess maybe my whole life?  I dunno, I just wear whatever is comfortable! 🙂
  6. Would you rather strangers call you “miss” or “ma’am” (or something else entirely)?  Why?
I would rather just be called by my name.  But I will live if someone calls me miss or ma’am.  I just HATE  being called girl of anything like that!  GRR!
  7. What’ve you been binge watching on Netflix (or other site) these days?
To be honest, I haven’t watched much TV recently.  I just don’t have the time for it.  I have some many other things going on!
  8. What do you love most about yourself?
I really love my red hair…  If you haven’t guessed it, I am a redhead and I am very proud of it! 🙂
  9. Are you good at resolutions?  How do you stay motivated to get them done?
I’m not the best.  I can help others with there goals but I sometimes fall flat or I have to push it back!  I am trying my hardest to not do that but life likes to throw in some curve balls once in a while!
  10. Where would you love to travel?
I would love to travel to Canada, England, Russia and so many other places.  I’m just an odd duck! 😀
  11. Do you play an instrument?  If not, is there one you’ve always wanted to learn how to play?
I play the flute.  While I would love to say I still do, I just haven’t in so long that all I can say is that I just to play the flute!

Okay, now for my eleven questions!

  1. What is you blog all about is five words or less?
  2. What kind of music do you listen to while you write/ blog? Or do you listen to anything at all?
  3. What is your drink of choice?  (Adult or soft)
  4. What books are you reading right now?
  5. If you could publish a book, what would it be about?  Would it be about you or a story you wrote
  6. What kind of magazines do you read?
  7. What is one thing (or goal) in your five year plan?
  8. Are you a sharer or a keeper when it comes to goal sharing? (Like do you share your goals with other or do you keep hidden for others?
  9. Do you have an non-real character crushes? (Come on fess up!)
  10. Are you part of a fandom? (fandom – n. the state or condition of being a fan of someone or something.)
  11. What is one thing you want to tell your future children or grandchildren about?  (It could be about anything)

Now for my nominations!  Enjoy!  Share the love! 🙂

  3. Kris Moore KM Novels
  4. Casual Procrastinator
  5. Annette Rochelle Aben
  6. Marlton Trainer
  7. 1-800 Books
  8. All Things Autumn
  9. Philip Dodson
  10. My Difference
  11. Love. Laugh. Sparkle.

Well I guess that is all for this post! I will have part two up soon-ish and then my Blogger Recognition Award post up as well!

Until next time…

Simple and Quick.

I thought I would post on last time tonight before I crash!  Two crazy exciting things have happened with my baby (and by baby I mean blog 😀 )

I have reached over 100 page views in a single day.

And I have reached my 100 post today as well!  (With this post!)

I know that these are major events but to me, they mean a lot!  I am so excited for what the future may hold!  Thank you guys for all the love and support…

Now if I could only get to 100 followers by midnight…  Then it would be three 100 things in a day!

Until next time! 😀

Tunnel Vision

We were asked to pick a social media site to focus on and then create a game plan on how to increase traffic to our blog from there.

I know several people who picked Facebook and Twitter for their social media site to focus on.   I thought about choosing one of those, but then it occurred to me, why?  Why would I do that when there are others out there that might work out better?

By now, you are wondering, which one did you pick?  I choose Google+.

Why?  Because, I wanna! Okay, but really there are a few great reasons to use Google+.

  • Space isn’t temporary or limited to 140 characters.  As a writer, I struggle with only writing 140 characters!  (But it does help with really focusing on which words used and getting the meaning across with only a few words!)  But I am a lover of words I hate not being able to use all the words I want causes me an internal struggle.
  • It is immediately indexed by Google. This is a bit of a now brainier.  In a world where so many people are struggling to get attention from others, it helps to get indexed by one of the giants without a lot of effort.  It helps save time while you are focused on other things.  🙂
  • No more friend request fatigue! Can I get an amen?  Add follow back fatigue to that list as well!  It’s so frustrating when you have people begging for follows, likes or requests and then they get mad if you don’t follow or you unfollow.  This is when major reason why I like the circle idea!  🙂   Go ahead, check it out!
  • HANGOUTS!  Okay, for me this is a big one.  For a few of you out there, you know that I want to create a writing group and host virtual write ins in the near future! So, for me, Google Hangout are a great idea.  If you already have a Google login (who doesn’t?) you can join in or you don’t need a Google login to watch.  (I’m still learning all about Hangouts!) On top of that, the hangout then becomes a YouTube video.  What is not to love?
  • It’s a popular social media site!  Backed by Google, what’s not to love?

So, I have decided to take a three step process to increase my presence on Google+.

  1. I need to share my post on the site – seems pretty straight forward but some how my settings where set for only me to see things!
  2. I need to share with some communities on Google+ – there are so many communities out there!  I think I really could find and connect with others  in the communities, I just need to interact with them!
  3. I need to engage more on there.  It’s a staple.  To get love, you need to share some love!  🙂

Alright, what do you guys think?   Do you think Google+ is the way to go?  If you have a profile, connect with me here.

Until next time…

Personal Blog Post

This post is supposed to be my own take on a blog post. I am struggling with this. I mean, isn’t any all blog post a personal take on things? So what am I supposed to talk about?

I could talk about my daughter and how her birthday is coming up, but I don’t want to expose her in depth to a world that may or may not be ready for her. And I don’t know if she would want to be out in the world just yet. I don’t want to force her into anything she’s not ready for, ever! I want her to decide what she wants in life. But I am going to instill manners, respect and other important things in her. My goal is not to force her to become a Barbie if she wants to be a G.I. Joe. But that is a work in progress! She will be a year this Friday (9/25)! Time has gone by so fast. I barely believe it. But enough about her. Let’s find something else to talk about. (Not that I don’t want to talk about her, but I could do like a 500 page report on her and I think I will wait until she is old to do something like that!)

I could talk about me, but I would rather not. I come from a sad beginning and I would rather move away from that. I really hate to think any child went through what I went through so I try to think of the future! That is where the possibility of change is located! So that what I aim to look at! So, maybe that will be what I talk about?

I have posted a lot about goals throughout this blog. (Here are a few of those posts here, here and here to list a few). I am a strong believer of writing down your goals. When it comes to sharing I am still on the fence. I have read studies that have stated that sharing your goals with other increase your chances of actually achieving your goals. But I have read a few recent studies about sharing your goals with others and they have found the opposite. If you share your goal, the researchers have found that people are less likely to achieve your goals. Here are a few different articles about goal sharing: 5 good reasons to share your goals and one powerful reason not to; When telling others about your goals compromises them; 10 things you should know about goals; WHY SHARING YOUR PROGRESS MAKES YOU MORE LIKELY TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS As you can tell, I choose four different articles from four different place. What is your take on sharing your goals?

I will admit, I share some of my goals but now all of them. I feel like I will keep a few private and share others. And it depends on what I am feeling at that time in my life which ones I share. I know that it’s odd, but I promise to go into more detail about some of this stuff at a later date. For the moment I will leave this taste in your mouth and see what you guys comment! J And I will talk more about goals since I am really into goals and working on achieving them!

Well, that’s my personal blog post, what do you guys think? Is this a personal take on a blog post or did I wind up over in left field? You could say goals are a personal thing but did I get personal enough? Tell me what you think!

Until next time…

Weekly wrap up

This week had been nice.  I have enjoyed it!  🙂   I hope you guys had a great week and I hope that next week will be even better!

This past week

So, like I said before, this week has bee kind to me.  I was nominated for the Liebster Blog Award twice this week!   Here are the posts: this and this.  Enjoy!

Also, on my current project front, I have increased my word count goal to 65,000 words, since I had hit my word count goal on the 13th.  This week I wrote 3,984 words and only missed two days of writing.  I’m aiming to increase this count by next week!  I hope!

On the blog front I hit my goal of 50 followers!  That is exciting!  🙂  I am hoping to hit 60 by the end of the month!  Do you think I can do it?  I hope so! 🙂  Share this with your friends!

Upcoming Week

This week I might not be around as often as I would like, but that is because it is my daughter’s first birthday this Friday !  (I wrote her a letter here.)  But this isn’t going to stop me!  It just might take a little while to get back to all the wonderful comments I have been receiving!  🙂

    Also this week:

  • My first interview posting Monday!
  • A piece of writing advice
  • More Blogging 101 & Blogging 201 improvements!
  • More Writing 101 inspired posts!
  • My daughter’s first birthday!

I am hoping for a great (and busy) week!

Next few weeks

Liebster blog award Part two

Hello!  So this is two days late!  My husband had a rare day off and we decided to do a lot of house cleaning! Oh, the joys of adulthood!

Okay, so like I said is my last post, I told you that I was nominated twice in the same day!  This is the second nomination.  I was nominated by Daisy in the Willows from this post of hers! 🙂

So without more words, here are her questions  for me!

  • What is your guilty food pleasure?  Chocolate…  Pretty much an form of it will work…  But It can’t have strawberries!  (I’m highly allergic to them!)
  • what was your favourite child hood game (doesn’t have to be a board game) My favorite game was Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
  • If you could rename yourself what would you call yourself and why? I don’t think I would change me name.  I’ve grown to like my name.  I will admit, sometimes I thought about changing my name to Samantha, people seem to think that is my name already!
  • What was the last lie you told?  “No, it wasn’t me that ate all the chocolate.”  I told my husband this last night.  Then we both laughed.
  • What is the best compliment you have ever received?  ‘Your writing has encouraged me to work on my own writing.
  • What historic event would you like to have been present at?   Oh, man; as a history buff there are so many events I would love to been at, overall, I think I would want to be at Stonehenge while it was being built!  I could answer so many questions for people! 🙂
  • How would you start a conversation with a stranger?  To be honest, nope.  I am not a small talk kind of person.  I don’t often start the conversation with people and if I do, it tends to a conversation about something they don’t understand and then they slowly walk away…
  • What is the strangest thing you have eaten?  Chocolate covered grasshoppers…  So, I’ll eat anything that has chocolate!
  • what quality/qualities make a friend a keeper?  For the most part, the most important quality for a friend for me is compassion.  I can’t stand someone who lacks this basic quality.  I might be apathetic about somethings but when it comes to starving children and how easy we could give them food, I struggle when someone tells me that their parents should just get a job.  Like, they are humans, show some love!
  • Is there a word that you love using all the time or/and a word you hate hearing or using?  I don’t know.  I am a lover of more words and I really don’t have a word that I hate hearing.  I don’t like hearing people being called names or being abused.  That is about it, I think.
  • If money was no option what would you do for your next birthday ?  For me?  My birthday?  I would love to pay off my in-laws debts.  They have done so much for my husband and me and I would love to pay them back somehow.

Now, my question to the people tagged:

  1. What is your favorite color?
  2. What is one room in your dream house you would love to have right now?
  3. What are you currently reading?
  4. Where do you get the ideas for your blog posts?
  5. What is the best advice you can give your fellow bloggers about how to get new subscribers?
  6. Do you belong to any writers’ or bloggers’ associations and, if so, which ones?
  7. Who is your favorite musician?
  8. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
  9. Who is your dream dinner party guest?
  10.  Where do you see yourself in 50 years?
  11. What does a normal day in your life look like?

Okay now for the eleven people to do these questions!  🙂

  1. Ra’Nesha Wilson
  2. Clarie
  3. Tiffany
  4. Karuna
  5. Ann Marie Lipari
  6. Ashlee Barclay
  7. Tracey
  8. Alice
  9. Rashmi
  10. Hope
  11. YOU!  Yes, the one reading this!  Please answer the questions and then share your post below!  🙂

Okay, that seems to be it for the moment!  Enjoy!

Until next time…

Liebster Blog Award part one

I was nominated twice today with in hours of each other…  I must be so popular!  😛

The first time I was nominated by Francesca from this post.  So go check it out!  🙂

The rules : the-rules1

Okay, so I will get started with the questions!

What inspires you as a blogger?

I love to write, so for me, my writing inspires me as a blogger.  🙂

Who do you blog for?

I blog for myself first and foremost.  I write the way I like to read.  I also blog for all the people trying to balance out life and the call of writing.  I feel that there is an opening in the blogging wold for people in this boat.  🙂

Who or what is your favourite book/ tv/ film character?

Oh man, you are asking to pick one?  Or one of each?
Book – Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
Tv – Star Trek: The Next Generation and Firefly
Film Character : Jack the Pumpkin King.

If you could choose to have a super power, what would it be and why?

I would choose the ability to live off of an hour of sleep.  I can get like 100% more done a day.  And I could get more writing done as well!

What was the last book you read?

Well, this going to be complicated.  Since high school, I can’t just read one book at a time.  But the most finished book was 30 Minute Social Media Marketing by Susan Gunelius.  (If you look over to the side, you can see what I am currently reading form Goodreads. 😀

What was the last film you watched?

Does the baby channel count?  lol  Actually it was Nightmare Before Christmas.

What was your childhood fear? Has it changed?

My childhood fear?  Well, I had a few my biggest was being unloved or forgotten.  Sadly it’s still a fear of mine but I know that I am loved.  Even if I don’t always believe it.

Recommend a song to me

Gah, I have so many I could suggest for you! But right off hand,
My Imagination by John Legend

Tell me an inspirational quote.

Right here.  It’s one of my favorites! 🙂 Words to live by!

How much does this nomination mean to you?

It’s a very nice gesture!  I appreciate that people read my blog and like what I am saying!  Thank you!  🙂

What would you do if you won £1,000,000?

Well, for me, that would translate to about $1,550,375.  First and foremost, I would buy a house for my husband and I and pay for like five years worth of taxes!  Then I will pay off all of our bills and then all his parent’s bills!  After that, and depending on what is left, I will use that money to live off of and continue to work on my writing!  🙂  And I might take a trip!

Okay so now it’s my turn to make up some questions…  Boy, I’m gonna run out of questions soon!

  1. Who are you in five words or less! (Can you think of just five words to describe yourself?)
  2. What makes you smile?
  3. If you have some spare time, what do you do?
  4. Who is a hero in your life?
  5. Are you a planner? Or are you spontaneous?
  6. What is your favorite season of the year?
  7. What is your most prized possession?
  8. What single quality do you most appreciate in people?
  9. Who is your favorite fictional character?
  10. What is your favorite quote and by whom?
  11. Any advice you would like to share with others?

Okay, so I think that’s about it for this post…  Oh and I have to tag people!  Okay, let me get that done!  🙂

Alright.  When I get a little more time, I will fix up the URL’s but for the time being I think you know the rule!  So enjoy!  🙂

Until next time…

Three goals…

Everyone has goals – no two people have the same goals. On top of that, no one has just three goals. I mean, I don’t. I have goals for thins blog, my career goals, writing goals, family goals and other goals. I really struggled with just listing three goals. But I did and I listed a few steps that I plan on taking to achieve these goals. So, without more blabbing, here they are à

  • One – I want to become a published author within a year time. But, I know that isn’t just going to happen so I am going to get the ball rolling and get as close as possible than I am now! The first thing I need to do is actually getting the words written EVERYDAY. You can’t have a book without first writing the words down first. It’s important that I learn all about the joys of self-editing (and looking for beta readers and editors!). After that I must learn all the ins and outs of querying. This doesn’t mean I start while I finish writing; matter of fact, I am slowing starting to learn about the topics I spoke about, but they are not front and center. My writing is. Also, I really want to get my eBook written and share it with the masses! But that is another goal for another day. 😀
  • Two – I want to create amazing content for my followers (I will take more about my followers in a few!) I want to create a resource for beginning writers who might me scared to take the first step. I want to achieve this in three ways.
    • I want to create a weekly series of interviewing other writers and blogger on how they started and how they handle balancing life and the call to write! I am hoping to get this started by the end of the month!
    • I am going to do a weekly wrap up of what I have done and then a monthly wrap up. In the monthly wrap up post I am going to outline what my goals are for the next month and what to look for as well.
    • Another series I would love to create is one all about writing tips and how to make money with your skills of writing! This I haven’t fully fleshed out but I am hoping by the beginning of next year to have this up and read for my followers!
    • Also, I have a few other ideas that I am thinking about adding are, virtual write-ins, video interviews, and a writing forum.
  • Three – I would LOVE to increase the number of followers. I want a strong sense of community for my followers. I know it will not happen overnight and I will need the help from my followers! But I am hoping to get close to 100 followers by the end of December. I am going to keep creating amazing content about writing and how to balance life and I am going to strongly follow the 80/20 rule (80% interacting and socialized and 20% self-promotion!)

Well, what do you think? Do you think I can achieve these? I have most of these written down in my goal notebook and greater detail but I didn’t want to bore you guys with all the details!

Tell me what you guys think!

Until next time…

New URL! Check it out!

This morning has not been too kind to me.  I am going to try waking up early this week to see if I can get more done before she (my daughter) wakes up and throughout the day.  I am not going to lie, it’s not looking promising.

I finally got my official domain name –>  Please save it for your nurture reference and share it with others!

It wasn’t not as easy as it sees…  Since I was trying to do this in the morning (and that is the worst time of day for me!) it did not got well.  I spent over two hours trying to get my domain mapped over to WordPress.  I was getting no where fast.  I often have a lot of patience but when it comes to mornings, I am not a happy camper.

So after trying and trying, I just gave up and cancelled everything.  And just when I did, everything decided to work.  So then I had to call up and undo my cancellation.  Thank goodness that I was able to speak to  who understands the struggle of not being a morning person.

Once I got everything going, it has worked beautifully!  I just need to remember that in the mornings I shouldn’t try to do much that needs brain power!  (lol)

So, how do you like it?  Please let me know!  Thanks!

Until next time…

Weekly Wrap-up!

Hello all!  Thank you for coming and joining me on this rambling journey called my blog!

Okay, so this is a ‘wrap-up’ post for the week.  I decided to share this with others to hold my accountable to you guys and share what has been going on in life!

This past week

Most of this week I have been very busy with Writing 101 and Blogging 101.  It has been great fun and I have been meeting all sorts of new people!  (Thank you new people!)   On top of all that blogging fun, I have continued to work on my work-in -progress science fiction project!   (If you look over to my side bar right next to this paragraph you can see how far I have come and what I have left to go!)  I have almost reached my word count goal but plot-wise, I am only about 3/4 of the way through!  I am hoping to get this draft done by the end of the month!

Upcoming Week

  • More Blogging 101 post and tasks
  • More Writing 101 posts coming up!
  • An interview?
  • Increase in word count goal (look below!)

Yes you read that right, I am interviewing a fellow writer and author this week and I will have the post up soon! I won’t spill all the details but keep your eyes posted!

And I am almost boosting my word count goal up to 1,000 words a day! About two weeks ago I posted my August Wrap up and I had set down a plan on how I am going to get 2,000 words written a day!  Well, I am not going into a lot of detail, but I am thinking of publishing an eBook on how to achieve this with my method, so be on the look out for that soon too!  (But it won’t be done this week, maybe next month!)

Next few weeks

I am hoping that I might add a weekly interview from other writers, stay at home parents, bloggers, authors, and  other people in a similar boat to show case how each person balances the call to write and the rest of their life!  If this is something you are interested in, let know.  You can comment below or use my Contact Me page to get a hold of me (but let me know where you are coming from and why you are contacting me! It saves on confusion!)  The interviews can be done in a video, via blog post or something in between!  Let me know what  works for you!

On top of that, I am really wanting to start a writing group.  Now, I haven’t completely worked out the all details, but I know two things.  One, I really would love to host some write ins and two, I would love to connect and share tips with other writers!  Sounds great?  If this is something you are interested in, let me know like I have mentions before! 🙂

If you haven’t already guess it, I am a HUGE lover of all things NaNoWriMo! Check them out here!  Since I already have NaNoWriMo fever, I will start to share tips and different helpful things about  NaNoWriMo.   If you didn’t already know, I’m a Municipal Liaison.  🙂  To start things off, I am just going to share a few links I think you might like or enjoy! 🙂

NaNoWriMo’s Prep Guide
USA :: Nebraska :: Elsewhere – This is my region!
This my NaNoWriMo profile!

Before I go, I thought I would do a little self promotion.  After debating a little bit about it, I finally broke down and created a Facebook page for this blog. Here it is!  So for the love of all redheads, give it a like!  It helps you so you can keep track of me and you get to see what I am sharing!  It helps me by connecting with others!  So I really will love you all! (And if you want to talk to me, you can message me there and I will be able to find it! lol)  So if you want to be interviewed or start a writing group, let me know via Facebook (if that is your cat’s meow!).  Thank you all! 🙂

Until next time…
