MIA (Sorry)

I am so sorry, Like has just been so busy.  I promise to work in more blog posts in the future!  Between my daughter teething (I dunno know who that was!) and just life in general, I have become swamped!

I will have a blog post about August and all that good stuff, so be on the look out!  🙂

I will also I have joined a dance class.  I have never danced before in my life so it was all new to me!  It is something I plan to tackle head on!  So watch out!

Hopefully I will be able to update more throughout this month!  So be on the look out and comment to your heart;s content!

Until next time…

Short and Sweet

So life has been really busy and I haven’t been able to update this like I promised myself and you guys.  But I did get some writing done!  My daily average is about 300 words.  (I am a full time stay at home mom and I don’t often get a lot time for writing.)

Today, on the other hand, I got 1689 written!  It is so nice to see my word count grow!  For my non- NaNoWriMo word count goals, I often use this website for keeping track of my word count.  See?

If you didn’t notice, I also have my meter widget on my sidebar so you guys can watch it grow too!

I was planning on having this draft done by the end of the month, but I don’t see that happening.  So I pushed it back for the end of the September.  (My daughter’s first birthday is at the end of September, so I am hoping I can pull this off!)

I am also in the beginning of planning out my project for NaNoWriMo this year.  I have three (very different) plot ideas!  SO I need to pick one and then roll with it!

I’ll keep you guys posted!

Until next time..

Simple update.

But first, let me share a selfie!

Safety first!  I don’t want to update without the proper head gear. 😂😂😂
I know, I’m not the prettiest thing to look at and my tongue looks like a spilt chin but here I am… redheaded and all.

I achieved something today! I have ten followers  (well now I have eleven followers!) I’m so happy. Thank you to all who follow and read my blog!

On top of that,  I finally got some words written today. I’ll write more when my daughter goes to bed but it was so nice just to write. I wish I could squeeze some more writing in during the day but I will just have to write on it when I can!
Well thats all for the moment.  I’ll keep you guys posted as I go!

Until next time…

This is my Fight Song.. well blog… :)

So this song has gotten a lot of love within the recent weeks.  I love this song…  I know I have a lot of fight still in me.  I can’t just give up because life gets hard.

I know my goal of being a published author is going to be an uphill battle. I know this. I will have a lot of things against me but I will push though it… not just for me, but for my daughter. I want her to show her to reach for the stars.

There is a small part of me that wishes that i had pushed myself a little bit more before she was born but then she would never see the struggle. She would never see how hard I worked to get to where I am.

But back to this song… it just hits me and makes want to push harder than ever.

This week has been hard on me.  I don’t know why specifically, but I have a few reasons.  One, Camp NaNoWriMo is done and I feel lost and confused.  I don’t know but I’m struggling with getting anywriting done. Two, my husband has been working a lot and I haven’t seen him much this week.  This also means that I don’t get much alone time to get my writing done.  (I know he works full time and it the primary income)  This leaves me home alone with my daughter and she’s pretty active.  By the end of the day, I am drained and mostly dead.

So I am going to have to push through.  It’s going to be hard, but I still have a little fight in me.  I have to use it all to win.

Until next time.

Writing Wednesday – Sample

Okay, so I have brought back one of my trademark (well maybe!) blog post series. It’s Writing Wednesday.

A little back story, I started this series a very long time ago. I am a writer and I do a lot of writing. So I thought that I would share a sample each week of some of my writing. That being my school writing, personal writings, old writings or anything that I had put words in a special order to get something across.

On top of just samples of my writings, I am going to post some advice, things I have found and my progress on my current project(s).  Overall, Wednesdays will be all about my writing!

My writing for today will be a raw look at my current project.  It’s RAW!  Means that it had very little editing done to it.  I did go through and check for any spelling or really bad grammar but other than that, very little has been done to it.  Why?  Because I haven’t finished this current project and I don’t know if I am going to have to do a lot of editing to this or what.   But for the moment, I am sharing it with you.  I want you to know that I know it’s a work in progress. Nonetheless, I feel like sharing it with you and I haven’t really shared anything with you guys about my current writing project!   So, here we go!

The ship jerked causing Captain Christophe Shepherd to roll out of his bed and on to the floor. He wasn’t a spring chicken anymore but he wasn’t an old dog. Before he could stand, his second officer barged into his quarters and ordered the lights on.
“Sir,” his first officer spoke as he expended his hand to help the captain , “I’m sorry to have disturbed you, but you are needed on the bridge on the double.” His second officer’s soft blue eyes were tight and focused directly on his captain .
“What the hell is going on?” Christophe demanded as he stood up and reached over for his rob. Christophe had been a starship captain longer that his second officer was out of diapers; never has he been demanded on the bridge in the middle of the night.
“I understand if you are more than upset but,” he paused and rubbed his chin. He was struggling to grow a beard to show his actual age. “I don’t know how to tell you, but… You need to just go on the bridge. I think it might be the only way you’ll believe it.”
“What the hell? Why did the ship jerk? Did we loose navigation? What did we loose?”
“We didn’t loose anything, sir.” He stepped toward the door and pressed the button for the door. “We gained some -” he paused again and just pointed to the door.
“This better be worth it!” he replied as he tied his robe in front of him.
The pair silently traveled down the hallway and into the lift. The lift slowly opened up to the bridge.
The two men slowly walked onto the bridge. They came in through the back door which caused everyone to stop and turn to then. Christophe was not happy about being on the bridge during the night shift without his uniform on. In the very front of the bridge was a large screen that went from the ceiling to the floor and showed Jupiter. Just in front of the screen sat the pilot and the navigator. Between the two seats sat a toddler.
Christophe stepped back, place his hand in the air and looked at his first officer, “Why the hell is there a baby on my bridge?”
“That is what we gained,” he replied. He walked past the work stations on the port side and walked in front of the status station.
“Was no one paying attention to the lift doors?” He walked up to the status station. “Surely someone noticed a child walking up here.”
“No sir,” his second officer replied. “I was right here, checking in with Ensign Frey. I was facing the lift doors.” He looked back to the Ensign at the station. “Then he froze and pointed behind me. Just then, the pilots did the same thing. That is why the ship jerked. We were all startled by,” he paused and looked down to the child, “By the child.”
“Bullshit,” the Captain replied. “A child can not just show up on my bridge.” He leaned onto the main work station on the bridge. It was often nicknamed ‘mother hen’ since it over saw everything in and outside of the ship. “Is there any reports of missing children? Is our numbers off by chance?”
The Ensign looked at the Captain, “No sir; no reports of missing children. We are plus on our numbers.”
The Captain took a deep breath in and looked at his first officer. “It looks human,” he finally said.
The toddler looked over to the second officer and the captain. A large smile formed on the child’s face. It held a purple dog looking stuffed toy tightly in its hands. The toddler was silent. She had reddish hair and deep green eyes. Freckles covered all her exposed skin. The only thing on the child looked like an ancient potato sack with holes for her head and arms.
The lift doors opened and the new ship’s Doctor Hopkins walked on the bridge. “I was notified that I was needed on the bridge.” She walked over to the Captain and smiled at Commander Blackstone. “Is there an emergency?” She looked at Blackstone and noticed when he pointed just behind him. Her eyebrows raised as she looked at the child.
“What do you want us to do with the child?” First officer Blackstone asked.
The Captain sighed. “Take it to the clinic. From there we’ll figure out our next steps.” He looked over to the doctor. “I’ll be down tomorrow to see what you have found out about the child.”
“Do you mind if I assist the doctor?” Commander Blackstone asked as he stepped backwards and squatted toward the child.
“I didn’t realize that you -” Captain Shepherd stopped and looked at Blackstone. A small smirk crept across his face. “You may help the doctor bring the child down but I need to up here. We have an important meeting with the Martixkin. I don’t want you to wear yourself out.”
“Understood sir,” he reached out toward the child. He expected the child to panic but instead the child pulled herself up to her feet and waddled closer to him. “That’s it,” he softly spoke as she stepped toward him. Once she was close enough to him, he picked her up and stood up. The child giggled. Blackstone looked at Shepherd. His eyes were wide and his arms crossed in front of himself. “Are you alright, sir?”
“Yes, I’m fine,” he snapped back, “Just be careful, you don’t know what infections or diseases that child brings.”
Blackstone chuckled, “It’s only a child. I’m sure,” he paused and lifted the child above his head and then back to his side, “I’m sure she isn’t going to hurt you.” He walked around to where Shepherd and Hopkins were standing.
The Doctor smiled at the little girl. “Do you have a name?”
“Sam,” the little girl replied. She reached out to the captain. He immediately leaned backwards away from her reach.
“I think I shall go back to my quarters and try to get a little bit more rest before the day head of us,” he nodded his head and turned to the lift in the back. Just as he turned to leave, he felt a little hand touch the back of his balding head. Christophe quickly turned around and saw the little girl smile at him. Something inside him turned as he smiled back at her and lifted his hand up to her to grab. He looked at Blackstone and looked back at the little girl. “Maybe I’ll bring her down to the clinic. You should stay on the bridge.” He reached out for her and pulled her to him. The captain saw Blackstone’s face and patted him on the shoulder. “You will be able to see Hopkins later.”
“I thought that you were worried about her infecting us…” His sentence stopped as he watched Shepherd and Hopkins head toward the lift.
“With what? She’s a child. I’m sure she’s harmless.” He smiled and tickled her belly button. Her laughter filled the bridge. “Ill bring her down to the clinic and then I’ll go to my quarters to sleep.”
“Never-mind than, sir.” Blackstone smiled and bowed his head. “Sleep well sir.”

Okay, so there is that.  I hope you enjoyed it…  Tell me what you think!  Once I’m done with my project and I start editing, I will post again this little blurb and see if you can spot the differences!  🙂

Until next time!

Oh Snap! Squirrel bowls and storms!

Oh snap!  You know some major writing is going on!  I got my squirrel bowl full of beef and noodles (nothing like my father-in-law’s).  I got my dog trying his hardest to get inside of me (he’s not a fan of storms).  My daughter is blissfully asleep.  I am listening to the storm outside pound against my windows.  I’m currently working on writing up a few blog posts fpr the week or so and I am going to be working on my project!

So be on the look out! I got a lot of stuff coming out in the upcoming days!  I hope you enjoy it all!

Until next time….

Camp NaNoWriMo … for the win!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

So, I just thought I would post a wrap up for the month of July…  I mean, nothing exciting happened or anything….

Are you kidding?  I won Camp NaNoWriMo!

Camp-Winner-2015-Twitter-Profile  Here it is….  My winner banner!  I am so happy!

It was my first time ever winning and it feels so good!

I aimed for 30,000 words.  I nail 32,162! I officially won on the 22 of July.  But I continued to write until the 31st!

Please note, plot wise, I am no were near done (I hope to finish the first draft by the 31st of this month!).  But it feels so good to have 32,000 words done!

I am just so happy!

Before Camp started, back in June I applied to be a Municipal Liaisons for my region.  My home region is USA :: Nebraska :: Elsewhere for anyone who is curious!  I am hoping to hear back about it soon!

So, for the next month, I’m going to be trying to get a lot of stuff written and I am aiming for my deadline of the 31!  I’ll keep you guys posted!

Until next time…

Goal Statement

So, for the people that have been following me for a while know that I often post a goal statement.  I tend to do one at the beginning of the year and then another one sometime midway through.  For me, posting my goals out to the world holds me accountable to them.  (I have this odd thing about when I tell someone about what I plan to do and I don’t do it, I feel REALLY guilty and that makes me get it done.) So this isn’t going to be glamours or anything exciting, but just me sharing what I hope to achieve by the end of the year. {Side note, I do have some goals on here that I want to finish before the year is over and I’ll have those dates listed.  All the others are for the end of the year!} In December I will have another post about what I want to achieve for 2016! I can’t believe how fast this year is going!

Okay, so let’s get down to it.

First up, I am going to list off my goals for my blog.  I’ll try to make it as entertaining as possible but I know there is some people that are not big fans of lists! (What is wrong with you?)

First off, I want to get at least two posts done a week; one on Wednesdays that focuses on writing (it could be a writing sample, some writing advice, or progress on my own writing (and during NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo I will posting my updates on Wednesdays too!) .The other day will be Fridays, and it will be on any topic I choose or an random one!  I have a few already planned out for this month!  This doesn’t mean that I won’t have other posts throughout the week, but I am definitely will be putting out two a week!  On top of that, my goal is to add three other features by the end of the year.  They will be my path to publication, a monthly book review and maybe interviews of other writers or bloggers.  Before I can start the last two, I need to increase my viewership but don’t doubt me, I will try my best!  Also, I aspire to buy my own URL for my blog. I’ll think about moving over to WordPress.org at the end of this year! My path to publication won’t start until I can achieve my writing goals.

Which leads me to my next set of goals.  These are my writing goals.  To become a published author, I need to write AND finish some piece of work.

  • To achieve that, I aim to get at least 1000 words done everyday.  It doesn’t mean it has to be on the same project, but I need to get my butt in the chair and write EVERYDAY!   I desire that it will keep me grounded.
  • From that, I want to finish my first draft of my Camp NaNoWriMo project by the end of August.  I am aiming for a fifty thousand word count when it’s done, but since it’s a science fiction, I have a feeling it’s going to run a little longer.
  • By October 1st, I aim to have my editing done and have a completed second draft.  I’ll take a break with that project.
  • During the month of November, I plan to participate in (AND WIN) NaNoWriMo.  I plan to kick some butt and take names!  🙂  In October, I will have a blog post on how and what I plan to do. So me on the lookout!
  • By the end of the year I hope to find some trusted beta readers and have them read my project.  I will work on editing from that in the beginning of next year.  (but that will be revisited in December!)  {If anyone is interested before than, message me or get a hold of me how you would like. 😀 }

There are only a few extra life goals I have are just a few minor things.  I would like to improve my skill level with HTML.  Using WordPress requires that I know HTML and I only know the basics.  Improving that would be great.  Also, I would like to improve my Spanish skill. I took six years of Spanish through my traditional years of schooling and  I read Spanish really well, but I speak it like a preschooler.  It’s sad.  I live in area that has a lot of Spanish speakers and I think it might be able really helpful with my day to day life.  One last thing I would like achieve is, I would like to be able to read and finish one book a month.  To be a good writer, I need to be a good reader.  I am am sure I can do at least one book a month. Then maybe I’ll do a post of the book review?  Mhm…

Anyway, those are my goals for the rest of the year.  Of course, life likes to throw me a curve ball once in a while and things may change.  Maybe I’ll revisit this once a month to see how I am doing!  You will just have to wait and see!

Until next time…
