2015 in review

So I thought I would share my year in review. It gave me a baseline on what to work on!

How did you year look like last year? Tell me in the comments!

Until next time…

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,300 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 55 trips to carry that many people.

Brief update

This will be short, sweet, and to the point.
I just thought I would leave a little post saying keep your eyes open. The next few weeks things are going to start happening. During the few posts I will have updates and plans for the future.
So keep your eyes open!

Until next time….

Sorry for the Absence

Sorry, I have been gone. I needed a break from pretty much everything.

I had a stand still when it came to my fiction writing, my blogging and pretty much anything else. So I took a vacation. I mean from everything! I stepped away and tried to refill my creative well.

I have to be honest, at first I didn’t think it was going to happen. I was in a rut. After some time of just relaxing, I felt some of my creativity returned. Or shall I say, it started to pulse again in my veins. I think I was trying to hard and trying to spread myself too thin.

So I have decided that I am going to post twice a week and I might add at a third post a week depending how things are going! I have a lot of things going on so I will have to pick and choose.

Last night I was finally able to get more than ten words on the page. It was just over seven hundred words; which is great! 😀

And since I am training for NaNoWriMo, I decided to take up the seven-day challenge for the next seven days. It is from the Wordnerds. I challenge you to do the same for the next week or so; you might as well get into the habit now! 🙂

So, back to work, I guess…. And I am going to be getting back into the swing of getting things done. So enjoy! 🙂

Something Funny

Many of you are expecting funny with a lot of wits or something really educational.

Well, I got nothing for you!

This week has been busy.  My husband went back to work and I have been trying to catch up on housework.

On top of that, my husband is in a wedding this weekend for one of his co-workers/ friend.  So we have been helping and prepping for that.

Also, my daughter has been on the sick end of things.  We are thinking maybe it’s a soy intolerance, but we are going soy free for the weekend to see how that goes.

On the writing front, I got very little done.  I am a little upset with myself.  Since I am upset with myself, now I have even less motivation to get stuff done.

Well, I do that a few things going for me…

This poll (That closes on the 15!)  I would love to hear from you!

It would help me so much if guys took a moment and voted for what you would like to see in the upcoming months on the blog.

Also, I thought I would let you guys know now, that November might be a little hectic when it comes to blog posting.  Since it is NaNoWriMo and I LOVE NaNoWriMo I think I am going to go down to two posts a week, maybe a third! But We will see how NaNoWriMo is going!  🙂

Until next time…

September Wrap-up

Well, September has been on hell of a month!  Thank you!  Thank you guys for helping creating this month to being so awesome!  So, let’s recap, shall we?

This past month –

First up, let’s talk about all the new things I have started this month…  I started interviewing people and it has been great. This month I have interviewed Tracey ClarkClaire and Ana Spoke.  It was has been great getting to know these ladies and I strongly suggest that you guys check them out!

I also was mentioned in three different papers.  It was kinda cool to see me post shared in other formats. Even if it was at the bottom of some of the papers!

This month has been a little better for my word count.  I got a total of 15,819 (up 6170 from August). I am SOOOOO close to finishing!  I just haven’t gotten there yet!  I am like at the door of the climax and I just can’t get the door opened!  Don’t worry, I will be busting that door down soon!

Also, most of this month I have been talking about creating an eBook based off my game plan from last month.  I am still toying around with it and I hope that maybe you guys can help me!  (Look below!)

Also, I was nominated for six awards! Hereherehere, here, here and here.  Go ahead and check them out.  I am sure you guys would like to know who I nominated!  🙂

 Next Month –

For the month of October I am to continue to create amazing content, continue (and finish) my current work in progress and having four new interviews! So I hope you guys stick around!  I am also toying around with the idea of have guest posts! What do you guys think? I am still working on it but I think it shall be fun!  Just hang around for the ride!

Also, since it is October and next month is November, you know what that means…  NaNoWriMo! Since I am a Municipal Liaison, there is going to be a lot of NaNoWriMo prep being shared!  I hope you are ready!  🙂

Also, I aim to write everyday!  That way I can get my current project done and work on plotting out my NaNoWriMo project!  And don’t worry, I will keeping you guys up to date! 🙂

Okay, so I have mentioned about a poll.  Well, I want you guys to help me pick what new series I introduce in October.  The first place I will start as soon as possible and then the second one I will start on December (because nothing will get in my way of NaNoWriMo! 😉 )  Please be sure to vote!  🙂  Thank you!  🙂

August Wrap Up and a Game Plan to Fix it!

Oh man, August flew by! I don’t know where the time went.  I now have an eleven month old tiny terror and it’s another month closer to NaNoWriMo!

August was a piss poor month for me when it came to writing.  My word count was 9649 FOR THE WHOLE MONTH! That is pathetic!  On top of that, I only wrote for a eleven days out of the whole month. I feel like a liar when I say that I am a writer! A writer writes everyday (or does something related to writing).  I only did it eleven day out of the month! I am just shocked by that!

So I have came up with a game plan. Like I mentioned before, NaNoWriMo is now even closer!  Like two months away! SO I need to work on getting my word count up.  Like a runner doesn’t run a marathon overnight, I need to train for this!  I got inspiration for this from here.  Emily suggested to to train in a two part series.

Part One: A short story of 12,500 words. (Or over) Easy peasy, right? Okay, sure. But do it in 12 days. (Yes, time frame is pretty much arbitrary. I didn’t say it was a logical challenge.)  –

Adventures in Writing

So the first part is about writing a short story to get words on the page and get your whistle wet! Words can’t come out until you start taping the keyboard!

Part Two: After part one and a short rest period, say 4 days. Step it up to 25,000 words in 30 days. –

Adventures in Writing

Part two is all about increasing your word count. It will take a month to do, (Maybe September?) It is something you need to stick with! 🙂

But what if this is too much for you to take on at once, well, I know for me and my busy life, I need to slow down a little bit (and by slow down, I mean take it easier than this).   For me, I get very limited window to get a lot of writing done, so I try so hard to get words down but if you are anything like me, sometimes you bite off more than you chew.

That is what happened it August. I put that I wanted to get 2000 words done a day but when I sat down to write, I became a deer in head lights!  I was so worried about how many words I was writing that I froze.  That is not what I writer does -freeze all the time.  A writer writes!  So I came up with this little plan!

I choose to start this little experience in September (I know I am crazy!).  To begin with, this plan will take almost six weeks to do.  Why?  It is all about conditioning your body and mind to write.  It takes time for you body to adjust and you really don’t want to set yourself up for failure! So here is the overview: (and remember, adjust this for your goals and what you are available to do!)

  • Week one – 500 words a day
  • Week Two – 750 words a day
  • Week Three – 1000 words a day
  • Week Four – 1250 Words a day
  • Week Five – 1500 words a day (Note to win NaNoWriMo on time you need at least 1667 words a day!)
  • Week Six – 2000 words a day

What do you think about this?  Do you think you can do it?  Or do you like Emily’s idea?  Let me know!  I love to help and I would love to help you guys, so let me know what I can do!

I’ll keep you guys updated on how it goes for me!

Until next time..

Municipal Liaison

So I while back I told you guys that I had applied to be a Municipal Liaison…..  Well, I heard back today about it…

My Municipal Liaison application has been accepted!!!

So this means I’m a ML this year!  I am so happy about it!  This is wonderful! I am so happy!  Okay, so it’s not a ‘paid position’ but it is important! I will be in charge of USA :: Nebraska :: Elsewhere with my co ML. I will be a ray of sunshine for fellow Nebraskan writers. I will be setting up write ins, pushing people to achieve their goals and some minor fundraising! So, you wanna join the fun? 🙂 Let me know! 🙂

I’m really excited and I can’t wait to make friends and share my love of writing! As I learn more about this process and what else I will be doing, I will keep you guys updated!  🙂

Until next time…

Short and Sweet

So life has been really busy and I haven’t been able to update this like I promised myself and you guys.  But I did get some writing done!  My daily average is about 300 words.  (I am a full time stay at home mom and I don’t often get a lot time for writing.)

Today, on the other hand, I got 1689 written!  It is so nice to see my word count grow!  For my non- NaNoWriMo word count goals, I often use this website for keeping track of my word count.  See?

If you didn’t notice, I also have my meter widget on my sidebar so you guys can watch it grow too!

I was planning on having this draft done by the end of the month, but I don’t see that happening.  So I pushed it back for the end of the September.  (My daughter’s first birthday is at the end of September, so I am hoping I can pull this off!)

I am also in the beginning of planning out my project for NaNoWriMo this year.  I have three (very different) plot ideas!  SO I need to pick one and then roll with it!

I’ll keep you guys posted!

Until next time..

Simple update.

But first, let me share a selfie!

Safety first!  I don’t want to update without the proper head gear. 😂😂😂
I know, I’m not the prettiest thing to look at and my tongue looks like a spilt chin but here I am… redheaded and all.

I achieved something today! I have ten followers  (well now I have eleven followers!) I’m so happy. Thank you to all who follow and read my blog!

On top of that,  I finally got some words written today. I’ll write more when my daughter goes to bed but it was so nice just to write. I wish I could squeeze some more writing in during the day but I will just have to write on it when I can!
Well thats all for the moment.  I’ll keep you guys posted as I go!

Until next time…
