Terrible news, folks.
The worst tragedy of our times.

From the Mayor in Nightmare Before Christmas.

Alright, that might be a little dramatic, but it some ways, it’s true. Well, at least the terrible news part of the quote.

A little back story, about two weeks ago, I started the transition of the domain and web hosting providers. It did not go as planned, and I will spare you all the gory details, but in the end, I lost access to my site for a little over two weeks. During this time, I was not able to log in and back up any part of my website.

Once all the dust settled, I discovered that most, if not all, my previous site are gone. G-O-N-E. It took a little bit of time to get over the shock because of that well over seven years of posts and pictures and comments and everything.

Over this past weekend, I have been in the slow process of trying to get my posts back, but it’s a slow process since I just got a backup file from my previous hosting provider. It’s a large file, and it’s taking a long time to get through it all.

Also, since I don’t have a traditional backup, I have had to get creative with finding bits and pieces of my site. One way if through the Wayback Machine. Did you know that even existed? Another way I have been trying to piece my site back together is through Google Search Cashed. If you have ever searched Google (and I mean, who hasn’t?), you may have noticed a little triangle off to the side of the main link of the result. That is a cashed addition of the site, that is if you had previously visited the website. With these two options, I have found bits and pieces of my site, but only BITS AND PIECES.

With that said, I am slowly trying to build my site again. I have a great new provider for hosting and my domain. All I have to go is up, but it will take a while. Seven years did not happen overnight, so trying to replace seven years overnight is impossible. I am going to be rebuilding pages, posts, formats, and almost everything else from the ground up. At the moment, all I have is this post, and my home page started. I do not have any of my other pages up, but in due time, I will. And be sure to be on the lookout for them all!

With new beginnings means new chances, new goals, and a new way of trying things out. One of my goals has always been to build this site up and have a lot of visitors. Why not now? Why not start this mission, this journey, this goal now, instead of just waiting around. The girls are in school more, and it’s leaving me with a little more free time during the day. (I say a little because I’m a mom, a wife, and I have a house to handle. And my youngest is only in school for three hours.)

In this process, things will change a lot, mainly with the site and how it will look and feel. This allows me to go back to some of my more popular posts and revisit them. Maybe I can improve them? Perhaps I can share them again. Either way, I will be doing a lot of work here, and I genuinely hope that you take a look at it. And if I shall be so bold, please share it with a friend?

One final note, I am still doing bookkeeping, and I am always looking for more bookkeeping work. In any event, if you know anyone or you need some bookkeeping help, please reach out to me. But with the bookkeeping, I am planning on doing much more writing as well, so if you need some copywriting, reach out to me as well!

Do you think this is terrible, terrible news or a blessing in disguise? Please, let me know in the comments!

Until next time …

I feel like this is an oversimplified version of my desk! I have way more notebooks, planners, pens, and WAY MORE paper than that on my desk.
